WMS is the management of information flow and of the physical flows associated with warehouse management.
The major functions are:
  reception and constant tracking of merchandise: The information necessary to do the tracing (management of containers/labels, barcodes) is recorded in accordance with the needs of that particular industry. Thus, the status of merchandise received can be validated or modified in order to supply the necessary stocks.
  the follow up of stocks and warehouse optimisation: Stocks are updated perpetually and the addressing function enables optimum stock capacity thanks to dynamic management of the space available.
  preparation of orders: This is launched by unit or group. The preparation documents provide the necessary information for pre-defined removals in accordance with the layout of the warehouse.
  distribution by addressee: The system automatically calculates the order of preparation for each addressee using the customers’ order portfolio.
  inventories and statistics: Defines and manages inventories (fiscal or rotating) in accordance with the setting criteria (article, supplier, placement) and then transmits the operational data to spreadsheets.

The management of cross-docking, of packaging, of quality; the piloting of the order of transferring goods, or even the management of handling them are but a few of the other functions available to get optimum use of the resources of each warehouse.
