STARLIMS began operations in 1987 as L.I.M.S. Laboratory Information and Management Systems. The company’s mission focused exclusively on introducing leading-edge Laboratory Information Management technology to a market then dominated by legacy systems provided by large instrument vendors. In 1989, after winning competitive bids, the company announced its first commercial PC-based package (PCLIMS). The market acceptance of PC-based LIMS created interest from additional instrument manufacturers, leading to an exclusive OEM agreement with Varian between 1992 and 1997. In 1998 STARLIMS launched direct international sales and support from its headquarters in Hollywood, Florida.

The STARLIMS brand is known internationally for delivering cost-effective, flexible, easy-to-use collaborative LIMS solutions to organizations in the public health, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, forensics, food & beverage, environmental and chemical industries.
