Supply Chain Management
SCM refers to the tools and methods aimed at improving and automating the supply of stock and ultimately reducing stock and delivery times. The objective of “just-in-time production” is to accelerate the flow of material in the company. A major characteristic is the adjustment of stock on all the supply chains and production chains so as to limit the time between the supplier of the supplier and the final customer.
It is a matter of best defining the quantities to buy from different suppliers, then to produce in the plant, to stock in the warehouse and finally to distribute the goods to the customer.
The SCM tools depend on the information of capacity within the existing information system in the company, to offer plans by the Management to place an order.
An SCM tool allows you to follow the flow of the parts between the different members of the supply chain. The main ones would be the flow of information and physical flows.
The main action of SCM concerns the anticipation of the necessary physical flows starting with the provisional sales demands, followed by the quantities to produce or be received, in order to satisfy the aforementioned demands and this, until delivery to the customer.

The above is becoming increasingly more complex as companies spread further and further apart:
-  They have several warehouses, on a national, continental and global scale.
-  The same goods can be produced in different factories.

SCM will consist of globally getting the optimum of such flows in plants which carry out the same operation of production or stocking.
